Description
These registers seem to have been used for a variety of administrative purposes, including transfer in and out of the district, summaries of totals, and newcomers to the district (who seem to have been personally visited). Section 8 is 'Motors registered under the Motor Car Act 1903', recording owner's name and address, registration number and weight of car, and date of registration. Notes on change of ownership are sometimes added, but no details of the car are given. Sales of cars by garages are included in Section 4, along with livery stables letting carriages. Section 5 is 'Persons Furnishing Servants for Hire', but only gives name of hirer, not servants, and all seem to be coachmen.
