Description
Side B of the sixth audio cassette in a collection of eight which records Ron A. W. Perry’s memoirs entitled ‘The Way It Was’.

Side B is 00:46:23 long and has loud static noise interference throughout the recording. Ron has noted on the cassette case that this is due to a machine defect. Ron’s voice breaks in at 00:00:01. Ron’s voice cuts out mid-sentence at 00:46:04 and the rest of the tape is blank.

The themes explored on Side B include: a detailed account of having to fit a new engine to a scout car, with descriptions of the men who helped Roy do the maintenance work [00:02:01]; being stationed again near Eindhoven and setting up in an abandoned infant school [00:24:23]; and the advance on the Reichswald Forest and the work he did to support the tanks through the forest [00:29:28].
