Eight cassette tapes recorded by Ronald (Ron) A. W. Perry detailing his memoirs entitled 'The Way It Was', with the pilot tapes recorded in 1992. They cover the years 1918-1935 and primarily focus, in great detail, on Ron’s army service during the Second World War and his time serving abroad in France.
Additional themes include: his mother’s death of influenza and his fostering by the Perry family and his childhood and teenage years growing up in Bath and living at 16 Fairfield Avenue; his education at Walcot School; and his working life as an apprentice mechanic at Widcombe Garage and Pierrepont Garage, Manvers Street, Bath.
