Description: Side B of the fourth audio cassette in a collection of eight which records Ron A. W. Perry’s memoirs entitled ‘The Way It Was’.

Side B is 00:46:07 long and starts straight away with Ron’s voice, halfway through a sentence. Again, there is static noise interference throughout the recording. The recording ends abruptly with Ron’s voice, cutting off mid-sentence at 45 minutes 57 seconds.

The themes explored on Side B include: a detailed account of his time on a repair and maintenance of enemy artillery course at Larkhill, Wiltshire [00:02:02]; checking all the 6lb guns on the tanks in the regiment with his sergeant and making a special spanner for the breech on the gun [00:06:50]; a bad case of food poisoning for the soldiers [00:14:16]; accompanying the tanks to Romney marshes for gunnery practice [00:24:34]; and a detailed account of going on exercise using 1500 weight truck representing tanks [00:28:08].
