Description
Sir Jerom Murch served as Bath's Mayor seven times. He was keen on initiatives to help the poor, in particular improving Bath’s water supply and sanitation. He was also involved in the extensions to Bath’s Guildhall in the 1890s, including the Victoria Art Gallery. He was knighted in May 1894 in recognition for his achievements in Bath, and died in 1895.

At a public meeting on 14 January 1878 it was decided that in consideration of his many services to the public, Jerom Murch should be presented with a testimonial. The testimonial, in the form of a bust, salver and vase, was presented in January 1879.
