Deed of Settlement of the Bathwick Bridge Company, 24 May 1826
1. The several persons whoose names are hereunto subcribed and seals affixed, other than Edward Atkinson of Bathwick, Esq., William Willsher of Bathwick, Gent., John Tiley Evill of Bathwick, Brewer, and James Frederick Goodridge of Bathwick, Gent.

Whereas the serveral persons of 1. and 2. have agreed between themselves and with the Right Honorable William Harry, Earl of Darlington, to raise a sum of money by subscription amongst them selves for the purpose of erecting a private bridge of cast iron with stone abuttments on the land of the said Earl over the River Avon in the parish of Bathwick to the opposite bank in the parish of Walcot. The said Earl having agreed at his expense to make and maintain the roads and approaches to the said bridge.
Whereas the sum of £10000 has been agreed to be raised in shares of £100 each, and there persons subscribed hereto have agreed to take the number of shares as written next to their names, and that the said subscribers are to form a partnership for the purposes herein mentioned called or known as the Bathwick Bridge Company.
Reciting: Lease of even date herewith [BC/6/2/9/3824/1]
Whereas it has been agreed that this indenture is to be a Deed of Settlement for the Bathwick Brisge Company.

A committee of nine persons, from those subscribed hereto, is to be appointed as the Commitee of the Bathwick Bridge Company.
Edward Atkinson, William Willsher, and John Tiley Evill are appointed as Trustees
James Frederick Goodridge is appointed as Trustee to ensure the benefit of the Covenants.

Whereas Edward Atkinson, William Willsher, and John Tiley Evill were appointed as Trustees, and whereas Edward Atkinson and William Willsher are now deceased, and John Tiley Evill now resides in London and has declined to hold the trust any further than legally necessary. The Bathwick Bridge Company has appointed Charles Godwin, John Stothert Bartrum and John Soden as Trustees.
1. transferres to 2. all the premises and monies held by him as trustee of the Bathwick Bridge Company.

Whereas John Soden died in January 1871, and Charles Godwin and John Stothert Bartrum have expressed the dire to retire from the office or appointment of Trustee. The Bathwick Bridge Company has appointed John Augustus Lloyd, Charles Milsom the Younger, and John Stone as Trustees.
