Description

Licensing of premises for the sale of alcohol and for music and dancing was carried out by the magistrates. However, all applications were passed to the City Council for comment. They were dealt with by the Clerk's department.

These files contain several files of general correspondence, and a series of files relating to individual premises. Many of these files include fire safety assessments by the Chief Fire Officer, as the council was particularly concerned with fire safety on licensed premises.
