Ron has used a typewriter to record his memories and the work has been divided into two spiral bound booklets entitled 'The Way It Was Part I (1918-1933)' and 'The Way It Was (1939-1946)'.

'The Way It Was Part I (1918-1933)' has bound within it 'The Way It Was Part II (1933-1939)'. In total there are 104 pages of text, which has been interlaced with photocopied black and white photographs of Ron, his family and of his time serving in the army.
