Description
A short history of the Russian Gun captured at the fall of Sebastopol during the Crimean War 1854-1856 which was placed in the middle of Wells Market place until 1942 when it was decided to send it for scrap to help the war effort. An addenda inserted on p. 11 of the book describes 'The two Bath Guns', two similar guns presented by the Right Hon. the Secretary at War to Bath, at the request of the Mayor Mr Robert Cook and the inauguration ceremony held in Bath on Wednesday 9th September 1857.
