Description
The reminiscences of Jobn Stothert Bartrum, surgeon, J.P. and Mayor of Bath in 1881 and 1889. Born in 1816, he was the son of Benjamin Bartrum and Sarah Bartrum (nee Stothert of the family of Stothert and Pitt) He married Mary Shaw at St. James's Church, Bath in 1841 (photograph of John and Mary at the front of the book). Includes John Stothert Bartrum's memories of eminent people who lived and worked in Bath in the nineteenth century, particularly those involved with the medical profession. Note on the flyleaf 'Presented to the Rev. W. W. Martin by the author' and another on the front cover 'Presented to the Field Club by Rev. W. W. Martin April 5 1904'. Ticket for admittance to the funeral of John Stothert Bartrum on February 22nd 1904 stuck onto the endleaf and a photograph of the author stuck onto the inside of the backcover.
