A lecture read before the members of the Bath Natural History and Antiquarian Field Club, Janurary 25th, 1899 comprising two separate subjects 1) Keynsham Briefs ( relating to a volume found amongst the parish register books of Keynsham labelled 'Breifs' which Rev.Shickle transcribed and listed in this written copy of the lecture entitled 'A Register of Briefs recieved, and Monies collected on them, in the parish of Keynsham, 1750.' This list contains Briefs from 1750 to 1822. (A Church Brief was a royal warrant authorising collections in churches and chapels, and in special cases, from house to house, for some charitable object, the most usual occasion being a fire. Many parish registers contain for a number of years a full list of sums collected upon briefs. Information taken from Church Briefs by the Rev. Harold Smith.), pp. 1-15. 2) Assignment of a Tyburn Ticket (given to William Harvard in 1817 for apprehending James Parsons while stealing from a house and ensuring his conviction for theft. A Tyburn Ticket was given to someone who prosecuted a felon to conviction, exempting them from certain parish and ward offices), pp. 16-19.
