Research carried out on behalf of The Bathford Society as a result of the controversy about property liable for church chancel repair following a High Court case whereby the Wallbank family of Aston Cantlow lost a High Court case against their local PCC (Parochial Parish Council) who had demanded £100,000 to repair their chancel. Includes a copy of the Record of Ascertainments for Bathford from the 1936 Tithe Act and consequently land/landowners liable for chancel repair charges.
