Transcript of a letter to the editor which appeared in the Thursday 18th October 1883 edition of the Bath Chronicle written by Harriet Newnham nee White, setting out the history of the Institution for Idiots and those of Weak Intellect/Institution for Idiot Children, Bath which was founded by her sister, Charlotte White in 1846 and originally sited at Walcot Parade but which later moved to 35 Belvedere as it expanded. The letter also gives details of some of the teachers who worked at the institution and the doctors who attended the children. See also PP/875 for further information on the institution.
