Contains the following: a summary of Bath's history from pre-Roman to the present (1801) as it was then known, a description of the abbey and the other Bath churches, both C. of E and other denominations and the services held in them, a list of the hospitals including the General Hospital (Royal National Hospital for Rheumatic diseases or Mineral Water Hospital) with a list of its rules, the Bath City Dispensary and Asylum, Bellot's Hospital and the Casualty Hospital opened in 1788, schools and the Bath & West. There are also sections on bathing and amusements within the city which include Beau Nash's Rules and the separate sets of rules drawn up for the Upper Assembly and Lower Assembly Rooms Rules, the riding school and tennis court at Julian Road, an account of Richard (Beau) Nash and his successors as Master of Ceremonies, lists of fares for Sedan Chairmen, the Body Corporate of the Council, the Common Council, barristers, attornies, physicians, surgeons, Bath Military Association and lodging and boarding houses.
