Description
An article in 'The Upland Goose', the Journal of the Falkland Islands Philatelic Study Group (Vol. XXIII, No. 6, Spring 2015), pp. 227-228, relating to a registered cover (the outside of the envelope or package with an address and postage stamps that have had a postal mark applied) to Bath cancelled/postmarked in the South Shetlands on 8 March 1927. The envelope was addressed to Miss A. Nevill, 3 George Street, Bath, who was possibly an employee of Bath stamp dealer and President of the Bath Philatelic Society, Adrian Edmund Hopkins, who became Mayor of Bath in 1939. Also contains the following item by the same author, 'Deception Island: Early Mail from an active Antarctic volcano' which mentions a cover/letter sent to Miss A. Nevill, 3, George Street, Bath on 8 March 1927 postmarked/cancelled in the South Shetlands of which Deception Island is one.
