Description
This article was originally published in The British Numismatic Journal, vol. 76, 2006. It contains a transcript and summary of documents in the National Archives concerning a judicial case brought by the King's Remembrancer's Office, part of the Court of Exchequer ,against Matthew Clift, son of William Clift, Mayor of Bath, regarding a box of farthing tokens sent to the mayor in 1618. The plaintiffs were Edward Wood and Thomas Garret and the witnesses examined, who were all of the City of Bath, were John and William Luff, Tobias Jackson, Philip George and Bryde Clift.
