Description: Handwritten notes and typewritten extract of a balloon accident that took place on 14th December 1881. A balloon called the 'Saladin' carrying Walter Powell MP, Captain Templer and Mr Gardner ascended from Bath Gas works but came down near Bridport throwing out Templer and Gardner. It rose again with Powell still in it but although the remains of the balloon was later found in Asturias, Spain, there was no trace of the gentleman travelling in it.
