Description: Unpublished research notes of Elsie A. Russ, Deputy Librarian of Bath Municipal library on Scottish-born John Parish who founded the merchant banking house of John Parish & Co. of Hamburg. On his retirement from the Hamburg firm in 1796 he established himself at Bath where he was a generous benefactor to many of the city's charities, in particular, the Bath Penitentiary and Lock Hospital.
