Description

Comprises the following:

1. Photocopies of newspaper cuttings relating to a delegation sent from Bath to Italy in 1931 under the auspices of 'The Friends of Italy' movement. The delegation was led by the Mayor of Bath, Alderman T. Sturge Cotterell and included other members of Bath City Council, those who worked for it and various city worthies of the period. An 'advance' party was sent on beforehand, comprising those listed below who appear in the diary transcripts of Alderman A. W. Wills.

2. A typed transcript of the diary of Alderman A. W. Wills dated 18th March-7th April 1931 regarding the above trip to Italy. The 'advance' group who appear in the transcript consisted of Alderman Wills, Mr J. B. Ogden (Town Clerk) and his wife, Mr and Mrs Hugh Towl, Mr and Mrs E. Taylor, Mr Fred Taylor and Molly Taylor (later Molly Gerrard) who was an architectural student at the time of the visit, but was later a well-known Bath architect.
