Description
An article from the Burlington Magazine, CXXXIX, No. 1130, May 1997, pp. 325-328. Describes a series of letters written from Bath between February 1760 and March 1763 by George Lucy of Charlecote Park near Warwick during his regular visits to the town to his housekeeper, Mrs Philippa Hayes. They give a fascinating glimpse of Gainsborough's early Bath career, a period that is poorly documented.
