Description
The author, Margaretta Baring King nee Bond, was born in Marlborough, Wiltshire in 1860, the daughter of a clergyman Frederick Bond. Later, the Bond family lived at St. George's Hill, Bathampton amd after Margaretta married her doctor husband Preston King in 1898, she lived at Combe Down. The sections of the book (which contains traditional recipes and remedies for some ailments are divided into: 1. Soups II. Fish III Entrees & Savouries IV. Meat, Poultry & Game (including various curries) V. Hot Puddings VI. Cold sweets VII. Cakes VIII. Miscellaneous IX. Beverages. The book is dedicated to Lady Hunter and was published to raise funds fo the Odd Down Institute.
