An audio recording of a public meeting held by the Environment Committee to decide what strategy should be adopted to stabilise Combe Down Stone Mines, with the final decision being ratified by the full council at their meeting on the 20th December 1994. This recording is 00:46:37 long and forms part of a series of recordings which make up the whole meeting. There are two audio cassettes in total both of which have a Side A and Side B [See also: BC/7/10/1/1/1a, BC/7/10/1/1/2a and BC/7/10/1/1/2b].

A transcription of the audio recording is available on request.

This audio recording begins with Mr Golding, Headmaster at Prior Park College, mid-way through a sentence of his statement, a continuation from Side A of the cassette. This is then followed by the only deputation of the meeting which is from Mr Garrett [00:01:05].

The recording then moves on to the main body of the debate to consider the recommendations from the main report with Mr Rob Mimac (Director of Property and Engineering Services for Bath City Council and the Council Officer with overall responsibility for the project) and Mr Andrew Reid (Assistant City Solicitor) explaining in detail the background to the report from both an engineering and a legal side [00:08:45].

There is then a debate amongst the Councillors about the recommendations on pages 47-49 of the report and their suggested amendments, including the results of the vote on whether the amendments should be made. We hear the views of Councillor Manning [00:24:37], Councillor Wishart [00:30:16], Councillor Crossley [00:32:06] and Councillor Simmons [00:33:36]. The audio recording ends with Councillor Simmons, mid-sentence, discussing public consultation and the survey undertaken to consider their ideas.
