These files were kept by the Property Maintenance Section, which was responsible for maintaining a good standard of repair in all Council-owned property except educational premises, council housing and operational engineering premises. Files were kept for each property and include information on routine work such as fire insurance, dilapidation claims (normally made at end of lease terms), structural surveys (reports before buildings are purchased or altered or as part of routine inspections) and estimating costs of repairs.
