Description

From 1872 to 1905 Bath City Council acted as the Urban Sanitary Authority (USA) for the city. The Town Clerk was also clerk to the USA, but the two functions were kept separate, and separate sets of letter books were kept.

At some periods, two USA letter books seem to have been in use concurrently, and the dates covered by some volumes therefore overlap. Volumes for some dates appear not to have survived.
