Description
An act made subject to the jurisdiction of the Magistrates at Bath with respect to Ordinances, Recovery of Debts, and regulating chairmen to empower the Trustees of the will of the late General Pulteney and other Trustees appointed by the act to purchase and exchange land in the Manor of Bathwick for the purpose of making roads and ways to and from a free bridge by them intended to be built over the River Avon; and to empower persons in possession of said estate to grant leases of lands and houses in said Manor; and to enable Trustees to grant grounds and springs of water to the Mayor, Aldermen and Citizens of Bath. The land in Bathwick was held in trust by the Pulteneys and an Act of Parliament was required to enable £3000 to be raised by a mortgage and to purchase and exchange land in order to build Pulteney Street.
