Description
Copy of an agreement between Joseph Mortimer and Samuel Skurray Day (1787-1816) for the sale of Mortimer's Norton St Philip estate to Day for the sum of £12,000. Together with correspondence between Timbrell (of Ludlow, Barton, Timbrell and Timbrell, Wiltshire Union Bank), Philip George junior, Samuel Day and Joseph Mortimer regarding the collapse of the sale. A letter from Timbrell to George states that the property was later sold to Mr Clutterbuck. Included is a cheque for £600 drawn on the Wiltshire Union Bank, and a copy of the marriage settlement between Joseph Mortimer and Caroline Bedingfield. Original ref BC 134/38.
