Description
Thomas Jefferies, David Horlor and Mary Slade, 'most notorious characters' living in the parish of Lyncomb and Widcomb were found guilty of stealing hay from Joseph Densley's field adjoining Entry Hill after drinking in the Cross Keys pub on the Warminster Road. Jefferies wife was aquitted as she was considered to be under the influence of her husband. Two draft Briefs, one with notes on the witnesses, together with a copy of the witness statement from Susannah Carter of Lyncomb and Widcomb and a letter from Charles Frederick Williams, prosecutor, who wrote to Philip George (junior and senior) to let them know that he had convicted 3 or the 4 prisoners and providing some details about the trial.
