Description
Written at the request of Robert Peel, M.P., who was concerned that public houses of 'notoriously bad character' had had their licences renewed. He refers to The Smiths Arms and Lord Nelson in Avon Street, and The Pig and Whistle and Cross Keys at the bottom of Market Place. Together with a draft reply, signed by G. Tugwell, in which he defends the work of the police in Bath.
