Description: This is the north end of Old Orchard Street meeting Pierrepont Place. The rear extension of the Fernley Hotel is on the right. On the left is the doorcase of no. 20 Old Orchard Street and, as the street bends, the pair of windows of no. 21. The original entrance has been subsumed by the modern extesion to the right. No. 21 was the home of Charles Harcourt Masters, architect and surveyor, b. 1759. Spiral fire escape staircases cascade down to flat roofs from the hotel beyond. B/W
