Description
A view of the west side of the street from Nos 16 to 19 Old Orchard Street before renovation and cleaning. Waste and rainwater drainage is still evident on these premises. No 16 is the premises occupied by the Bath First National Spiritualist Church. No 19 has gates to a carriage accessed courtyard with a notice 'Please keep clear.' The lower sash of the first floor window over the entrance is leaning inwards. It also has a ghost sign ' The Prince of Wales' extending the length of the building between the first and second floor windows (since lost during cleaning and renovation work). The Prince of Wales was a beerhouse opened in the early 1860s but closed less than 10 years later. Reverse: Note in black ink ' Old Orchard Street Bath Before restoration.' B/W
