Description
A photograph showing a view of the façade of Nos 16 and 17 Old Bond Street (west side).They are part of a terrace of limestone ashlar with mansarded slate roofed Georgian properties facing onto a pedestrian way. To the left is No. 16 with a wooden bow-fronted glass shop front divided into 28 panes on the ground floor. ' C.T. Gilmer, Antique & Modern ; Late of Mallet and Sons' is painted on the wooden fascia above the glass front. Upper 3 stories have sash windows with original Georgian format of glazing panes. The first floor has cornice hoods, plus triangular pediments in the central window. No 17 is to the right wiht a larger more modern shop front and 'Gilmer' in white, modern font to the left. On the pavement between 16 and 17 is a square flower bed supporting a post wiht hanging baskets. Several shoppers are passing by and the back of a van can be seen on the left of the photograph.
