Description
A photograph showing a view of Northgate Street looking north from the High Street. To the left in the foreground are the facades of 26, 27 High Street,premises of Cater, Stoffell and Fortt Ltd, grocers and wine merchants (now demolished). This is followed by the entrance to Upper Borough Walls with the shops of Nos 1-2 Northgate Street, Plummer Roddis Ltd, drapers, continuing northwards. This leads to the columned portico entrance of the Post Office Building. The edge of St Michael's without is just visibel to the right. The corner of Bridge Street is on the left and the corner of Mallory, jewellers is visible to the right of the photograph. Reverse: Pencil note 'Northgate looking North toward the G.P.O.' Small stamp at bottom ' A.G. Bolwell; 8 George St. Bath.' B/W
