Description
Photograph shows a view of the Arkana furniture factory building designed by Yorke, Rosenburg & Mardall, 1966-7. Later known as Bath Cabinet Makers, then Herman Miller and now, Lidl. A Listed Buiding. An elderly man stands at the left hand corner in an otherwise deserted scene. A zebra crossing is in the foreground with a bus stop and shelter (eastbound services) beyond. Camden Crescent and the terraces on the adjacent hillside are seen above the right hand end of the building in the distance. A label is stuck on the bottom of the photograph reading: 'Arkana factory- an example of an industrial site with adequate servicing and car parking arrangements and buildings which are adaptable to most forms of industrial processing where there are unlikely to be pressures for re-development'. On the reverse: a pencil note- 7 in a circle. B/W
