A view looking southwest across Kingsmead Square under the canopy of the large plane tree, straight down New Street West towards James Street West; the view terminated by the Kingsmead Motor Co Ltd., a Ford dealership.Most of the shops on the west side of New Street West have awnings deplyed in the sunshine. The left side of Rosewell house is on the right and at street level houses the Kingmead Bookshop.At No 1 New Street West is Walshaw and Sons, dairy and milk bar; at the far end of the street at Nos 5-7 is Silcox Son & Wicks, house furnishers .
