Description
A view looking east of the derelict south side terrace of Kingsmead Square, Nos 5-9 before restoration works. At this time, some of the original shop uses are known: at No 5 on the left, is the Reliance Stores, confectioner and tobacconist; No 6 is Kingsmead Laundry (chinese laundry and dry cleaners.) All of the premises are boarded up The canopy of the large plane tree in the middle of the square obscures the upper floors of Nos 5 and 6. A young girl walks across the paved island around the tree. A Morris van belonging to the GPO is parked in front of No 8. Reverse: Pencil note '19c.' B&W
