Description
View of Clarence Place looking north from Locksbrook Road, the end of which is closed by 2 houses joining the east and west terraces at the abutment with the Bath to Gloucester railway. The houses probably date from the late 1870s and are of brick construction with stone detailing. There is a Ford Cortina Mark 2 on the right with a Hillman saloon beyond. Beyond the end of the terrace are the roofs of larger houses on Newbridge Road. On the bottom of the photo is an attached strip with a typed note: "CLARENCE PLACE - A HOUSING AREA WITH SOME CHARACTER IN AN AREA WHICH IS AT PRESENT ALLOCATED FOR INDUSTRIAL PURPOSES IN THE DEVELOPMENT PLAN". On the reverse in pencil a note "Clarence Place - a housing are with some character in an area which is at present allocation for industrial purposes in the development plan" and a number "2" circled.
