Description
View looking north from Alexandra Park lookout point on Beechen Cliff. In the immediate foreground is the roof of the old bus station and the striking floors of Ham Gardens multistorey car park above and the new Southgate Shopping Centre to the right (completed in 1972). Manvers Street rises straight up to North Parade, Terrace Walk and Orange Grove. In the bottom right hand corner below the tower of St John's church are the old post office buildings. The south façades of the Abbey and the Empire Hotel are off to the left. Above the Abbey rises the tower of St Michael's church, with Lansdown Road climbing and swinging to the right, while The Paragon is level and curves towards St Swithin's church. In the distance, Belgrave Crescent drapes across the hill above Snow Hill. B&W
