Description
A view of the south side of Cheap Street as viewed from the pavement outside the Guildhall. The shops in view from the corner are No 13, the premises of F. T. Cornish, butchers and at No 14, Cyril Howe, which has a continuous wide painted stone surround with a stepped top and Art Deco styling extending to the shop name, and No 15, Millinery Specialist, Miss Marion Hunt. The rendered first floor above Cyril Howe at No 14 includes 3 square-ish windows in a plain rendered façade. A number of vans are parked along the street and one is identified as belonging to F. Moody & Co Ltd, Outdoor Advertising Contractor (address in Manvers Street). A number of pedestrians are walking across the end of Cheap Street and a female cyclist approaches the zebra crossing from the right. A Bristol bus is parked on the left. "Cyril Howe Studios, Bath" is embossed in the bottom right hand corner. Unfortunately there are 2 punch holes at the top edge. On the reverse are notes in black ink: "13 & 14 Cheap Street, Bath. Elevation facing Cheap Street, Bath. W. A. Williams. Architect & Surveyor. 5, Wood St., Bath" and a faded Cyril Howe stamp in blue: "Cyril Howe Studios 38 Milsom Street Bath Phone 60444 Copyright Neg. No. [in pencil] 174/55/C Re-orders Quote Above" and a pencil note 174/C. B&W
