Description
A photograph of the terrace known as Cavendish Place viewed from the junction of Cavendish Road and Park Place. The grand Regency terrace (Pinch the Elder) stepping down the hill turns the corner at the wedge-shaped no. 3. Nos. 1 and 2 Cavendish Place are continuations of Park place on the right. An Austin A35 van is parked outside no. 3 Cavendish Place. The terrace includes Palladian elements traditional to Bath- rusticated ground storey with rusticated, round-headed doorways, tall first floor windows the middle of which is accented with and entablature on narrow-reeded pilasters with long , slender console-capitals.There is a strongly modelled platband below the second floor windows and a heavy cornice below the attic storey. The ironwork is notable with overthrows, iron balconies, balustrades and railings. on the reverse- a note in green felt tip 'Cavendish Place Bath', and a stamp in faded balck ink, 'H. E. Stutchbury, City Architect and Planning Officer, 7 North Parade Buildings, Bath'. B&W
