Description
A view of the lower west side of Broad Street seen from outside St. Michael's Church. The shop premises are from the left Monk & Co. (Baby carriage dealers) at no. 3, a vehicular entrance, A Coward (watchmaker) at no. 7, and also at no.7 J. Payne & Son (bootmakers). A projecting clock is hung over no. 7 and carries the name 'Coward' and words 'Watches' and 'Jeweller. Paynes' shop also has a projecting two-faced sign at first floor level. The shopfront has a decorative cast iron railing over the shopfront fascia carrying the words 'Boot-Makers'. A well-dressed gentleman walks towards the camera on the east side of the street carrying a walking cane and a bundle of books. A Bristol bus, service 202 to Lansdown, climbs the hill. B&W
