Description
A view of the lower end of the east side of Broad Street seen from the corner of Green Street- the Oliver Inn is on the left. Most of the scene is occupied by the west side of St. Michael's Church (George Phillips Manners, 1834-7), its buttresses and lancet windows are a repeat of the south front. The strong mouldings of buttresses and plinth are emphasised by their weathering effect on the plain stone surfaces. Abutting the church, at no. 42, is the Saracen's Head (c. 1700 but dated 1713). Beyond, the street winds up to its junction with Paragon and Lansdown Road. B&W
