Description
A view of the recently-cleaned and restored façade of 8 Argyle Street, part of which is returned into Laura Place.This return is dominated by a pair of Corinthian pilasters rising from the first floor string course.No 12 Laura Place is seen on the left in its uncleaned state. Hale's the Chemist has a Greek Revival shop front with fluted Ionic columns and large panes of glass. Below the name 'A.H.Hale' is the proprietor's name D. Vincent Silk - this has been painted over and lost in modern times. Reverse : Black felt tip pen note:'Oct '67 8,Argyle Street. After restoration.' note in black biro 'Please return to City of Bath Department of Architecture 7 North Parade Buildings Bath.' B/W
