Description
This committee dealt with the Council's electricity undertakings.

Under the Electric Lighting Act 1882, local authorities and companies and individuals could apply for statutory powers to generate electricity and supply street lighting. Bath City Council decided to introduce electric street lighting under a contract with Mr Massingham (later the Bath Electric Lighting and Engineering Company Ltd.). In 1896 the Council purchased the electricity undertaking from the Bath Electric Lighting and Engineering Company Ltd. The supply of electricity was subsequently expanded from street lighting to private consumers: at first, only those who were close the main street supply could ask for an electric light supply to their premises, and by 1909 there were 685 private consumers. By the inter-war period, the Council was generating and supplying electricity to the whole city.

The committee reported to the Council Acting as USA until 1905, then to Council

The committee came to an end in 1948, following the nationalisation of the electricity supply in 1947.
