Description
The 1902 Education Act gave to County Borough Councils, of which Bath was one, responsibility for both elementary and secondary education. Bath Education Authority, created under the 1902 Act, came into being on 1 June 1903. From this date, the provision and management of education formed a major part of the Council's work. Responsibility for specific aspects of the work was delegated to a number of sub-committees of the Education Committee.
