Description
Comprising of minutes, financial records, headstone designs and plans of St. Michael's Cemetery, Upper Bristol Road. St. Michael's Burial Board was established in 1859 by the parish vestry under the Burial Act of 1853 (16 &17 Vict. c. 134). Land was puchased at Upper Bristol Road in 1859 for a burial ground in conjunction with Walcot Burial Board. The cemetery opened in 1862. The minutes of the board end in 1911 when its powers were taken over by the Town Clerk's Department, Bath City Council under the City Boundaries Extension Act 1911.
