From November 1954, Bath Assembly Ltd ceased to exist in practical terms, and the City Council took direct control of the Bath Assembly, now re-named the Bath Festival. Management of arrangements for the festival was carried out by a special committee of the Council, and the Bath Festival Society Executive Committee..

The Bath Festival Society was formally constituted in 1961, and its records have been deposited in the Record Office (ref. 0380). Minutes from 1965 are at 0380/1/1
