Description
Drawings, poems, letters, maps, collages, clay models and protest signs, created by participants from Get Creative and Genesis Trust; inspired by archival records relating to housing. The 'Imagine: A Hundred Years of Homes in Bath' project was a Wellcome Trust funded public engagement project that ran alongside the Bath Record Office's Wellcome Trust funded archival cataloguing project 'Building a Healthier City 2: Slum Clearance, Council Housing and Renovation in Bath, 1890-1995'. In conjunction with Creativity Works, a local organisation that supports wellbeing through creativity, and with an artist, Ellie Shipman, acting as facilitator of the workshops, the aim of the project was to enable creative engagement with archival resources on the theme of housing and health in Bath over the last 100 years. Participants from two groups, Get Creative, a community art group supported by Creativity Works, and clients of the Genesis Trust a charity which supports disadvantaged and vulnerable people in the Bath area, took part in a series of sessions to explore the housing records and the many themes related thereto and used the records as inspiration and focal points of their creative responses. The sessions were themed in the following way: 1. Housing and the City 2. Housing and Health 3. Housing and the Environment 4. Housing and You 5. Housing and the Community The workshops included architectural drawing, map-making, poetry and creative writing, clay modelling and more.
Copyright in all works extends for 70 years from the death of the individual participant artists.
