The shops are fronted by a broad drainage trench with frequent stone bridges to the general road and pavement area. In the background, two European ladies in Edwardian dress and hatted, one carrying an umbrella for shade, stroll along in front of the shops. In the foreground two Indians in conversation walk past the camera.
