Description
Photograph of a souvenir postcard showing the Gommateshwara Statue in Shravanabelagola, India. This colossal statue depicts the Jain figure Bahubali in the kayotsarga (standing meditation) posture. It is a 57 foot high monolithic statue carved from a single piece of granite, commissioned in 983CE. The nudity of the statue symbolizes victory over earthly attachments and desires.
