Description
Photograph of the entrance of the YMCA British Soldiers Club. Probably the one at Bangalore mentioned by Lieut Mackie in his nephew’s book ‘Answering the Call’. It provided the men with billiard tables, magazines, papers, tennis courts and a football ground, all free of cost, also a good supper for about 4d. The drive is marked by brick and stone gateposts supporting a large sign "YMCA BRITISH SOLDIERS CLUB". The club building is just visible down a tree-lined driveway.
